Puppy Training
We have found quite a remarkable difference between a dog that has had obedience 'training' and one that has been 'educated'.
Educating our dog is what worked best for us, since this pooch has a mind of her own and she uses it! I encourage everyone to raise their puppy the best way they feel comfortable to ensure that they grow up to be a responsible member of the family and the community (as much as a dog can be!); and please, by all means, unless you're a professional breeder, or intend to responsibly breed…
Reiki and Pets
Published in the February 1999 issue of "The Messenger"
We have been receiving more requests lately to do treatments on animals, as well as queries for information on treating animals. There is not a lot of information available for Reiki animal treatments.
There are several major differences between working on animals and humans, and it is important to understand and remember them, as you set about your work. First, it is of utmost importance to do Reiki treatments on your pets as soon as you sense any changes in behavior habits; i.e., temperament,…
Reiki and Animals
Published in the June 1998 issue of "The Messenger"
We have been asked recently by a practitioner new to Reiki, if Reiki can be used on animals. This tells me that there are some teachers out there either just attuning people to the Reiki energy or not teaching enough information. Reiki is safe to use for any living life-form. This includes all species.....plants, animals, and humans. Since everything is composed of energy molecules, and the joining of molecules make up all levels of matter, then simply stated, Reiki is the energy that animates all living things.…

I Don’t Understand
I don’t understand how they could have forgotten. Forgotten that I am a noble animal, descended from the first wolf that made a pact with man thousands of years ago. We have since freely lived with and helped man with any endeavor he has asked of us.
In the beginning we helped him hunt and protected him at night. We would search out game and help him catch it then gladly accept the scraps. We have gone into burrows and fought tenacious animals with razor teeth because he asked us to.
We…
Dogs’ Prayer
Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not break my spirit with a stick, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps fall upon my waiting ear.
When it is cold and wet or intensely hot, please take me inside, for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer use to bitter elements. And I ask no greater glory than the…

All barking mad
Our fat spaniel sometimes forgets our Christmas tree is fake and "marks" it as his very own. So we were delighted to receive this list of things we all wish our dogs would remember.
The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.
I do not need to suddenly stand straight up when I'm lying under the coffee table.
If I roll my toys behind the sofa, they're…
