Rue's Interview

This is Rasputin. He was our first Jack o' Lantern carved by Ray three days before Boo Boo was born four years ago. I was humongous pregnant and kept myself busy by baking Devil's Food cupcakes and icing them with my sweet Jennipoo who I miss terribly.
Ray made pizza... He makes the best unconventional pizza I've ever eaten. Hm, maybe I'll ask him to make some next weekend.....

I go through phases where I get hooked on a food for several weeks at a time. Very much like a toddler does. 
Here's my latest bastardized concoction. It's based on a masala omelet.
You'll need:
2 extra-large eggs
2 green onions
1 red chile (or flakes)
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp turmeric
salt and black pepper to taste
1 large wheat flour tortilla
Beat the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper to taste and set aside.
In a 12 inch non-stick skillet on medium heat just warm up the tortilla and put it aside. Drizzle about a tablespoon of canola oil and sauté the onions (chopped), cumin, coriander, chile, and turmeric for a few minutes and be careful not to let it burn!
Pour the egg mixture over the onion, chile and spices and swirl it around to cover the base. While the top is still 'wet' place the tortilla onto to it. Turn the heat off and place a lid on it for about a minute.
To pop it out, place a dinner plate serving side down onto the tortilla and with your hand on the back of the plate, turn the frying pan upside down and the omelet should some right out.
I like to add some HP sauce or mango chutney onto the egg and then roll it up!
On its own, its a yummy and satisfying snack. Add a bowl of soup and a salad, you have a a really nice meal.

I've been in and have associated with: several wicca covens, satanic covens, Temple of Set, feminist (w/ token males) circles; "native american" powwows, etc. I can vouch for their being completely out of their minds, wholly intollerant to anything Christian. It's just the spirit of the age, and a lot of "alternative " folks are contaminated.

It wasn't her beliefs per se that I've protested -- despite the fact that she was wholly off base with the Blessed Mother as "Goddess" thing (typical of the "doing your own thing" religious shopping cart phenomenon). I've known plenty of NPs, wiccans, etc in the last two decades. They're all nice folks until, like Dracula, they see a crucifix and then they show their ugly sides. I've also made the mistake of piping up on forums such as the Witches Voice, and the list for the Odinic Rite -- not as an evangelist, but just as a normal reader -- as the witch that I am. Then, invariably, someone writes something tacky about Christianity, with the Catholic Church as a favorite punching bag, and then I chime in. That's when the gang-bang happens: and I then realize what some guys in prison feel like after they've accidentally dropped a bar of soap in the shower.
My apologies for being a prick, but I really, truly have no more tolerance for the "Catholicism was just a cover" bullshit. This is the only forum, aside from the Mexican curanderismo group, where I feel 'safe' being who I am, because it just isn't elsewhere. It's only in a forum such as this that truthful statements regarding traditional folk magical practices and Catholicism's role in these can be aired without the nasty attacks from anti-Christians (be their prejudice "soft", "hard" or otherwise). It's also a safe haven for people like me from other Catholics who would otherwise not understand this subject due to unfamiliarity with it. Unless one is brought up around practices such as these, then it's all considered demon worship anyway. In my predominanty Irish Catholic section of Pennsylvania, Italian Catholics are still sort of seen as "heathens" by some.
What a mess.

I received my first order from Spiritual Sky Incense this morning.

They are located in New Zealand. For those of you with limited geography knowledge, it's where Peter Jackson filmed The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Still no idea? Fire up Google Earth. It's worth it! (I'm being facetious, )

Well, well... there apparently was a "denial of service" attack either on the server that houses our websites, or a site that shares the same hosting company as we do. I'm happy to see my husband's and my blog and website back, however, I finally post something, and it wasn't backed up.
But fear not gentle reader. Google cached it! I will be reposting the lost post and 3 comments that got wiped out as well.
Maybe I'll even manage a blog entry today. I did record a PocusCast last night, but we were unable to upload it due to our sites being down. It will be uploaded this evening.
