Not Very Talkative

I kinda have a one-track mind the past couple of days. I'm quite on edge and am wreaking havoc on everything in my path. I think it's best that I lay low for a little while.

No other news.

Turn and Face the Strange

While cruisin' both Robyn's and Michele's I came across an interesting little meme.

Magical Maccheroni

I have two passions: my husband and cooking/baking. My religion is caring for my family.

Last night I made dinner for all of us and my buddy Jennipoo. Feeling just too unwieldy to do much of anything I made what any Italian person would: maccheroni! This is my newly tweaked recipe and ideal when having to whip up lots of dinner fast. Also, can be adapted for the vegetarian diet.

Actions of Magical Practices

The following is a list of the basic actions used in the various magical practices. This list is a distillation of many specific practices and represents some basic concepts used in Italian (and certain other) practices.

I've placed an asterisk (*) beside the ones I'm more skilled at.

The Truth About Curses

Here's a little something that ties into this previous post

"While many of us might like to believe that our lives have been cursed, - it's so much easier to set the blame outside ourselves when things go wrong - the truth is that only in extremely rare circumstances are we ever victims of anything more than our own beliefs, fears and unloving actions."

Life After Death

I wonder if my tenth-grade religion teacher, Mr. D'Alessio knew what he'd done the day he handed out individual assignments to the class. He liked to mix it up a little so that everyone's project would be different. When he walked up to my desk he said:

"I want you to write a paper on life after death."
I said: "What do you mean? You want me to make it up?"
"No, I want you to research it."
"Last I heard, dead people don't talk and they don't come back."
"Oh yes my dear, they do, and they're talking."

I wrote the paper using the only documented cases I could find. It was from a book by Raymond Moody, M.D. It gave me a rush. I got an A and was asked to present it to the class. Thus began a lifelong quest. Over the course of 15 years working with the dying I acted as confidante and witness to the most amazing accounts of pre-death and near-death experiences. The most fascinating were the few occasions the dying person described all they were experiencing until they drew their last breath.

Today I came across the article quoted below. It's another one of those:
'I wish I wrote it, but I didn't, and therefore I'm glad someone else did.'

I also believe as surely as hell has existed on earth, so does heaven exist on earth. To experience heaven on earth, we have to heal the eye of the heart so we see life through the lens of love instead of the lens of fear. Then we see the beauty, courage and nobility of our human family and the exquisite natural beauty of the earth. When we're in love,we experience heaven on earth. That's why we long for that experience. Through our much disparaged "rose colored glasses", we see the truth. Heaven is already on earth. We don't have to wait until we die.

Maybe St. Joseph Should Be Your Real Estate Agent

Want to sell your house? Bury a statue of St. Joseph in your yard. Really. People have been doing it for ages. You can even buy a Saint Joseph Real Estate kit!

March 19 is St. Joseph's feast day. It is customary to make zeppole. Or, you can buy them at your local Italian bakery instead!

One online supply store has the following just below their kit:

This is not to be used superstitiously, but as an act of faith through the intercession of St. Joseph.

Yeah, okay smile

  • Being from an Italian dad and a french Canadian mother, I've seen alot at weddings. I'll agree I've seen some degrading things. I remember at my cousins wedding (french side), the men danced with the bride and pinned money to her dress but also the women danced with the groom and pinned money to his tux. Luckily my dad didn't want that at my wedding.

“A philosopher once wrote you need three things to have a good life. One, a meaningful relationship, two, a decent job of work, and three, to make a difference. And it was always that third one that stressed me, to make a difference. And I realise that I do. Every day, we all do. It’s how we interact, with our fellow man.”
